Linguistic ToolBox is a quality assurance tool for TWS. LTB is run on bilingual files (XLZ, XLF, RTF) and produces a report with potential errors.
It is computer-assisted revision (CAR) tool capable of detecting mistakes and creating reports based on your translated (bilingual) XLZ files. Those LTB reports list various commonly made mistakes in spelling, punctuation, consistency, completeness etc. which you can then easily identify and correct in your XLZ files. Every standard translation task performed in TWS requires to create, review and submit an LTB report.

How to work with LTB
1. Start LTB.

- file based (A .zip file. Do not extract files from a .zip configuration!)
- server based (downloaded directly in LTB tool)

If you do not know which configuration to use, please contact your manager! There is a different configuration for each project. It is very important to use the right one! |
To load a file based configuration go to File → Load configuration. Choose "Local". Then specify the directory path where you have saved your LTB configuration. Click Double-click the needed configuration. Then click "Load":
When using this option, skip next steps and go directly to point 3.
To load a server based configuration go to File→ Load configuration. Choose "Translation Workspace". Then click "Log in". Use the same credentials that you used to log into LTB:

3. Now the configuration is successfully loaded add . Add files or a folder (drag and drop), choose the location for your report:

4. Additionally you may also want to make following settings:
Click "Start" and wait until there will be generated a report to the specified folder.
5. How to work with created report:
Comment the report — “Ignore” and “Mark“
Open the report in MS Excel and review all findings.
They will appear as a list in which you can decide for every entry whether it is really an issue (i.e. “valid correction”) or whether it is does not need fixing (“false positive”).
Comment false positives with “Ignore” and valid corrections with “Mark”.
Use your commented report to go through the bilingual files and correct all instances of valid corrections (commented with “Mark”).
Useful tips:
- XML report files , once opened, can be stored as XLSX workbooks via “Save As…”. This will improve performance when working with them.
